Rough theatre is the theatre that doesn't take place in the theatre! that's a mouthful. basically, rough theatre is what happens in the audience while watching theatre, or the interactions that happen outside of the performance. It is designed to make the audience feel apart of the cinema. This directly relates to our Bolex assignment where we have to perform outside what is seen on screen.
First Screening Transcribed, The lines and bubbles seen on screen clearly coordinate with the instruments playing in the background. It seems as if each different instrument coordinates with a different color or shape scheme, and are probably done with the use of different tools to alter the film stock. The timing of each different stroke on the film stock is beautifully done in an effort for a visually abstract and cinematic look that obviously is meant to be enthralling. The film stock was bleached, color, cut, scraped and punched in various different ways to get the affects seen.
